An epub opens after conversion to PDF
This site has no e-book editor. Instead, when you upload an epub, it is converted to PDF and opened. That way you can use the two screens that already exist — adding marks and the page editor — as they are.
This conversion finishes inside the browser. The file is not uploaded to a server.
The look differs from the original
An e-book is a format whose text size and line breaks adapt to the reading device. It has no fixed pages. So when it is made into a PDF, it is laid out again on A4 pages. Text and images, headings, lists and quotes carry over, but the styling is not the same as the original.
A long book can take 1–2 minutes. Progress is shown on screen, and you can quit midway with "Stop".
You are told if anything is left out
If there are characters the font does not have (such as Chinese characters or Japanese kana) or images that could not be included, a notice at the top of the screen says how many were left out after it opens. Nothing is dropped silently.
