Delete or Reorder Pages in a Word Document

A Word document has no pages

It sounds odd, but it is true. All a Word file contains is a continuous flow of paragraphs, tables and images; pages are calculated when that flow is laid out on screen or paper. Change the font or the margins and the page boundaries move with it.

So there is no place in the file to record "delete page 3", "turn only page 2 sideways" or "move page 5 forward". That is also why Microsoft Word has no "delete page" button.

How to do it in Word (the same here)

To remove a page — select the content on that page and delete it. The content after it moves up.
To turn one page sideways — insert a section break and set that section’s orientation to landscape.
To change the order — cut the content and paste it where you want it.

In other words, in Word you work on "content", not "pages". If the document is only a few pages long, this is the cleanest way.

If you want to work page by page — "Arrange pages"

If you want to delete, rotate and reorder whole pages the way you would tidy a scan, the document has to be fixed as a PDF, because a PDF actually contains pages.

Open the Word document.
Press "Arrange pages" at the top.
Read the notice and press "Convert to PDF and arrange pages".
The page editor opens right away. Delete, rotate and reorder pages there.
Press "Download". A screen counting down 5 seconds appears.
When it reaches 0, you have to press "Download" once more for the file to be created and saved.

After conversion you cannot edit the text. If you still need to edit text, save the Word document first. The original file is left as it is.

How it differs from "Convert to PDF"

Both convert to PDF, but they end in different places. "Arrange pages" opens the converted PDF on this site so you can keep working. "Convert to PDF" downloads a PDF file — and the work ends there.

Both send the document to our server and back. The screen tells you before you press the button, and nothing is kept on the server after conversion.
