For a Word document, start with "Arrange pages"
This article is about PDFs. To delete pages from a Word document (.docx), you first need to convert it to PDF — a Word document has no fixed pages. With the Word document open, press "Arrange pages" and, after conversion, you go straight to the screen described below.
Deleting pages finishes in the browser
Taking a few pages out of a PDF is different from editing text: the file only needs to be reassembled. This site does that inside the browser. The file is not uploaded to a server, and the text, images and fonts of the remaining pages are carried over exactly as in the original.
How to delete, in order
- Open the PDF file.
- In the tabs at the top, press "Edit pages". The pages are laid out as thumbnails.
- Click the page to delete. For several pages, hold ⌘ (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) and click more.
- Press "Delete".
- Press "Download".
You cannot delete every page. At least one page has to remain.
If you want to check before deleting
Double-click a page thumbnail to see it large. It is hard to tell a blank page from a faint one in a small thumbnail, so it is safer to look at it large once before deleting.
If you deleted the wrong page, just do not download. Edits made on screen are not applied to the file right away. Open it again and it is the original.
There is a short wait when you download
When you press Download, a screen counting down 5 seconds appears. This wait is the price of using it for free; the file is not being created during it. Free use allows 1 file a day without signing in and 3 a day when signed in (conversions count too); with a pass there is no wait and no limit.
When the number reaches 0, the "Download" button becomes active. You have to press that button once more for the file to be created and saved.
